DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University women's basketball team posted both a handful of career and season-highs in a 97-27 lopsided victory over Mid-Atlantic Christian University in non-conference action Tuesday evening.
Sophomore
Camryn Lunsford turned in arguably her best performance for the blue and gold as the guard posted a game and career-high 22 points, finishing nine of 10 from the floor, while dishing out three assists and recording four steals.
Backcourt counterpart freshman
Courtney Scott also posted career-highs as the guard tied a career-high with 18 points, while recording a game and career-high 12 rebounds and seven assists, while also tying a career-high with five steals.
Sophomore
Genesis Weiters continued her strong play as the post tallied a career-high 13 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in the victory. Additionally, sophomore
Rana Davis-Robinson finished with a career-high 12 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Senior
Brooke Carthon tallied double-digit points with 19, moving further up the Averett all-time scoring list and finished one rebound shy of a double-double with nine and dished out four assists. While fellow senior
Ravyn Johnson pulled down a game-high 12 boards, tying Scott's tally and chipped in six points.
The Cougars finished the night with a season-high 97 points and 40 made field goals, while also posting season-high's with 60 rebounds, 24 assists, 15 steals, 24 caused turnovers and a season-low tally of 11 turnovers.
Averett will look to continue momentum on Wednesday when they return to USA South Conference action with a trip to Raleigh, N.C. for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off against Meredith College.
