DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University men's tennis team earned its fifth consecutive victory with a 6-3 win over Guilford College on Sunday at the Averett Tennis Courts.
Averett (5-0) started things off with a 2-1 advantage in doubles play over Guilford (3-1). In No. 2 doubles, the team of freshman Evgeniy Bogdoasaryan and junior Thomas Woodcock earned an 8-6 win to start things off, while the duo of junior Simon Levinsson and sophomore Fabian Howding snatched an 8-1 win in the No. 3 slot.
Bogdosaryan started off singles play with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in No. 5 singles, while Howding followed that up with a 6-4, 6-1 win in No. 6 singles. Woodcock then had the match-clinching point with a 6-4, 6-3 victory in No. 3 singles, while freshman Jorge Figueroa closed things out with a 6-2, 7-6 (3) win in the No. 1 spot.
Averett returns to action when it hosts West Liberty University on Friday, March 13.
