Game Notes: Averett vs. William Peace
The Series: Despite the Pacers making an NCAA tournament appearance last year, one of their five losses and only conference loss came to the Cougars. The all-time record is in favor of the Cougars 24-14.    
Averett at a Glance:  The Averett women's basketball program opens its 2020-21 conference campaign at William Peace University. The Cougars are coming off their fourth 18-9 season in a row. Averett returns four players from last season's roster while adding seven freshmen. The Cougars graduated four players, including top scorer Brooke Carthon (13.9 points, 8 rebounds), who was an all-conference performer and 1,000-point scorer. Also graduated is top rebounder Ravyn Johnson, who totaled 8.8 boards last season while averaging 10.5 points a game. Junior Camryn Lunsford is the team's top returning scorer at 10.2 points per game, and junior Genesis Weiters is the team's top returning rebounder at 6.3 boards per contest. Juniors Courtney Hunt and Rana Davis-Robinson also saw time off the bench last season. Averett was picked 5th in the USA South East Division preseason poll.
William Peace at a Glance: This is William Peace's first conference and regular season game of the year. The Pacers posted a 15-1 record in conference play and a overall record of 23-5 in the 2019-2020 season. This was impressive enough to earn an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament. They were selected 2nd in the USA South East Division preseason poll along with two first place votes.
