Game Notes: Averett vs. N.C. Wesleyan
The Series: N.C. Wesleyan holds the all-time series lead 11-6. Averett, however, has won the last three meetings. Last spring, Averett defeated the Bishops 33-29 in Rocky Mount, N.C.
Averett at a Glance: Averett University hosts conference foe N.C. Wesleyan College on Saturday during Homecoming. Averett is riding a three-game winning streak following a 47-10 home win over Maryville College last Saturday. The Cougars' offense has been riding the momentum of junior quarterback Bryce Jackson's five consecutive 300-yard passing games dating back to last season. Senior Jarrod Mosby became the first Cougar in program history to surpass 200 receiving yards in a single game last week while also setting the single-game receiving touchdowns mark with four. Meanwhile, Averett's defense has been allowing a league-low 17.5 points per game, including only 12 total points the past two games.
N.C. Wesleyan at a Glance: N.C. Wesleyan picked up its first win of the season last weekend with a 26-21 road win over LaGrange College. The Bishops have averaged only 15.3 points per game and most of their offense has come through the air so far this season.
