MARYVILLE, TENN. — Senior
Erik Blick sent the Averett University men's soccer team onto the USA South Conference semifinal with his game-winning goal in the final minutes of Saturday's 2-1 victory over West Division No. 1 seed Maryville College.
With the score tied 1-1 with just over three minutes remaining in regulation, Blick gained possession around 30 yards out, played a touch to his right past a defender and launched the deciding goal past a diving Maryville keeper into the back of the net.

Maryville (12-3-1) knotted the match at 1-1 with a goal in the 76th minute following a Scots corner kick, but Blick's game-winner in the 87th minute pushed the Cougars into the Conference semifinal.
Averett outshot Maryville on the afternoon 16-11 with both teams landing five shots on frame, Yates tallied four saves in the victory as the Cougars advance to the conference semifinal for the first time since 2013.
The Cougars will take on East Division foe N.C. Wesleyan College on Friday in Cary, North Carolina with William Peace University serving as the host site.
