GREENSBORO, N.C. — Averett University volleyball made quick work of Greensboro College for a 3-0 conference win on the road Wednesday night. The Cougars won 25-21, 25-16 and 25-21 for their 22nd consecutive win over the Pride.
Averett (12-4, 4-2 USA South).jumped out to big leads in the first and second sets to set the tone against Greensboro (10-8, 2-4 USA South).
Sophomore
Erin Gray totaled 32 digs for Averett, with senior
Sarah Shropshire leading the attack with 11 kills and seven digs, junior
Lauren Montren added eight kills and 16 digs, and junior
Morgan Barnes totaling seven kills and two blocks. The Cougars also got a double-double of 17 assists and 10 digs from freshman
Kinsley Stevens, 12 digs from freshman
Carlie Deason and 14 assists from sophomore
Makkenzie Compton. Stevens also had two of Averett's five service aces.
Averett returns to action on the road Friday with a road tri-match hosted by Meredith College. Averett and Meredith play at noon, followed by Averett against N.C. Wesleyan College at 2 p.m.
