RALEIGH, N.C. — The Averett University women's basketball program is off to a 2-0 conference start after a 74-56 victory over Meredith College on Tuesday night inside Weatherspoon Gymnasium.
Averett (2-6 2-0 USA South) was led by senior
Courtney Hunt, who recorded a career-high in points with 20, while freshman
Jaa Brown also set a career-high in points with 13.
The Cougars headed into halftime with a 12-point advantage before outscoring Meredith (0-5, 0-1 USA South) 24-11 in the third quarter of play.
Meredith tried battling back in the fourth quarter, which was the only quarter the Cougars were outscored in, but it wasn't enough. Averett was also led by senior
Camryn Lunsford who tallied 18 points and seven rebounds.
Averett is back in action Dec. 11, when it travels to Southern Virginia University with tip-off set for 1 p.m.
