Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Averett University women's basketball program began its 2021-22 season with a 77-48 loss against the University of Lynchburg Friday night inside of Turner Gymnasium.
Averett (0-1, 0-0 USA South) only shot 27% from the field while Lynchburg (1-0, 0-0 ODAC) shot 53% from the field and 50% from behind the ark. Sammi Sever led the Hornets with 27 points.
The Cougars were led by senior Camyrn Lunsford who had 15 points, 9 rebounds and three assists. Sophomore
Natija Pate added eight points and five rebounds while freshman
Jaa Brown tallied seven points with six rebounds in her colligate debut.
Averett is back in action when they host Roanoke College Monday Nov. 9th at 6 p.m.
