DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University women's basketball program hosted Roanoke College for its 2021-22 home opener which resulted in a 79-51 loss Monday night inside the Grant Center.
Averett (0-2, 0-0 USA South) only shot 30 percent from the field while Roanoke (1-0, 0-0 ODAC) shot 47 percent from the field and 41 percent from behind the arc. Each team had a total of 27 turnovers throughout the game. Averett earned 10 second-chance points while also getting 40 points off the bench.Â
The Cougars were led by senior
Camryn Lunsford who had 12 points, four rebounds and one assist. Freshman
Jaa Brown was Averett's second leading scorer with six points and five rebounds.
Averett is back in action when it travels to Piedmont University on Friday, with tip-off set for 6 p.m.
