DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University women's basketball program dropped its second consecutive game to N.C. Wesleyan College 69-45 Sunday afternoon in the Grant Center. The Cougars gave up 25 second chance points which helped the Battling Bishops stay undefeated in conference play.

Averett (4-6, 4-6 USA South) ended the first quarter with a three-point advantage thanks to a buzzer beating layup from freshman
Shunte Bethea, who had four points and three rebounds. N.C. Wesleyan (10-1, 8-0 USA South) was able to regain the lead before halftime 30-29 off a 6-0 run to end the second quarter.
The Cougars were held to only 16 total points in the second half where the Battling Bishops had runs of 9-0 in the third period and 10-0 in the fourth. Averett turned the ball over 31 times which led to 30 points off turnovers for the Battling Bishops.
Averett was led by junior
Camryn Lunsford who had 17 points and three assists. Also, junior
Rana Davis-Robinson added seven points while freshman
Demi Case tallied six points and three rebounds.
N.C. Wesleyan was led by Myrayna Watkins, who had 12 points and five rebounds.
Averett hosts Greensboro College Friday for a 7:30 p.m. matchup.
