LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Averett University women's lacrosse team dropped its first contest of the season to the University of Lynchburg on the road Wednesday by the final of 22-4.

Lynchburg (1-0) got off to an early 7-0 advantage before sophomore
Raven Felder got the Cougars on the board to pull within 7-1.Â

However, the Hornets ended the first half on a 7-0 scoring run to control a 14-1 advantage heading into the half.Â

Averett (2-1) ended a Lynchburg 9-0 scoring run when
Elizabeth Peasley notched her 27th goal of the season and 207th career score to pull within 16-2. But the Hornets added six more goals to push their advantage to 22-2, before junior
Adriana Perez and Peasley added late goals to make the deficit 22-4.Â

Peasley finished the afternoon with a game-high eight draw controls, while senior
Haley Boardway forced a game-high three caused turnovers.Â

The Cougars return to action on Sunday when it hosts Ferrum College at 1 p.m. at Frank R. Campbell Stadium on Daly Field.Â
