Wrestling's Braswell, Turley, Moseley earn All-American honors at NWCA DIII National Championships

CORALVILLE, IOWA. — Senior Sam Braswell finished third overall at the 2021 DIII NWCA National Championships on Saturday to earn All-American status, while freshman Alex Turley and sophomore George Moseley concluded the two-day event as All-Americans. 
 
Braswell opened the day loosing to Brady Kyner of Wartburg College who finished runner-up in the two-day standings for his only loss on the season, but rebounded in the consolation bracket to defeat Dylan McChesney of Simpson College by major decision 13-3 and later beat Bradley Rosen of North Central College by decision 7-4 to take home the third place podium. 
 
The Daytona Beach, Florida, native Braswell finished the season with his second-straight All-American title and the highest national podium finish in program history. 
 
Turley capped off an incredible freshman campaign with a seventh place finish in the standings, beating Dylan Briggs of Olivet College by fall in the first round before losing a hard-fought 8-5 decision to Rafael Roman of North Central and later knocked off Ryker Kurimski of Coe College by pin in the second round to conclude his tournament. 
 
Moseley finished the afternoon 2-2 overall for a sixth place performance and earned his second All-American status in just his first two collegiate seasons. Moseley pinned Zach Altman of Adrian College in just 31 seconds to begin his day and later picked up a 7-3 decision over Coe's Tristin Westphal before falling to Jacob Krakow of Loras College by major decision 14-2 and loosing his fifth place match to Messiah College's Brian Shermeyer by major decision 12-0. 
 
Averett's performance at the NWCA DIII National Championships caps off the most impressive season in program history as the Cougars finished 10-1 on the year for their best record in program history. Beating four division II programs on the year and posted five of their 10 wins with 40-plus points scored.
 
Braswell finished the year 19-1 overall for the best individual season in program history and the Cougars racked up three All-American awards to best a program best set last year as both Braswell and Moseley finished the year with All-American honors.
