The Series: The Cougars are 14-4 against Southern Virginia since 1998. The Knights have taken the last two matches after the Cougars had won five in a row prior to that.
Averett at a Glance: The Cougars open the 2020-21 season at home in a non-conference matchup. Averett is coming off a 19-16 season with a 14-2 mark in conference play. The Cougars were picked as the East Division favorite in the USA South Conference this spring. Although they couldn't play outside competition last fall, the Cougars played 10 intrasquad scrimmages to gain extra experience.
Southern Virginia at a Glance: The Knights went 16-13 last season with a 4-6 mark in the Capital Athletic Conference. Southern Virginia was scheduled to open the season last Friday against Mary Baldwin University, but that match was postponed.
