DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University women's tennis team came away with a close 5-4 win over the unbeaten University of Lynchburg at the Averett Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon.

Averett (5-2) earned two points in doubles action as the senior duo of Louise Hovhammar and Eleanor Crane rolled to a 8-3 victory. At No. 3 doubles, the pairing of freshman Paula Ryhsen and sophomore Alejandra Garcia won the closest doubles match of the day 8-6.

In singles play, Hovhammar and Ryhsen won in straight sets for the Cougars at No.1 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Sophomore Nakia-Lee Goodall clinched the victory for Averett winning No. 6 singles 6-2, 3-6, and 6-3.

Averett returns to action when it hosts Meredith College for senior day on Saturday at 11 a.m.
