DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University men's lacrosse program dropped its last game of the year 15-8 against Methodist University on Saturday afternoon on Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium. 
 
Averett (4-9, 0-8 USA South) saw freshman Liam Taylor score three goals which was good enough to set a new school record for career goals with 28. Taylor also added five ground balls.
Methodist (6-6, 4-4 USA South) out shot Averett 13-6 in the first quarter. The Cougars headed into halftime trailing 8-3.
The Monarchs began the third period of play with a 3-0 run before junior  Marques Fleming halted that run with his first goal of the year. Fleming also added six ground balls.
Methodist lead Averett 11-4 headed into the final quarter of play. Freshman 
Connor Taff scored twice in the fourth quarter while junior 
Tyler Moodie scored one of his two goals on the day as well. Senior 
Jacob Shriver finished his last game with the Cougars with 12 saves. Seniors 
Nate Hann and 
Rafael Walker added an assist each.
 
 
The Cougars conclude the season with a program best in wins sending seniors Shriver, Hann, Walker, Will Merritt, and Andrew Leeper out on top.
