DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University men's wrestling team has launched its upcoming 2021-22 schedule. The Cougars are led by head coach
Blake Roulo, who is entering his third season as head coach for the Cougars.
"The excitement level for this season is through the roof with our guys hungry to compete," Roulo said. "Guys have been training like mad men. I believe the state of Virginia will be very proud of the product we put out there on the mat this season."

The Cougars will begin play in the beginning of November, opening their season on the road at the Ned McGinley Invitational on Nov. 6 starting at 10 a.m.
After that, the Cougars travel to Fairfax, Va., to compete agaisnt three Division I programs in the George Mason University Duals on Nov. 13. Averett will get to battle host George Mason, Bucknell University and Bellarmine University.
The Cougars will then host their annual Averett Cougar Open on Nov. 14 beginning at 9 a.m.
Averett will be back on the road as it gets set to compete in the Greensboro College Pride Duals on Nov. 20. The Cougars will have duels against Saint Andrews University, host Greensboro College, Bluefield State College and Huntingdon College.
The Cougars begin the month of December in York, Pennsylvania, at the New Standard Invitational on Dec. 4-5. They follow that road trip up with a three-team duel at home on Dec. 13 starting at 4 p.m. where they will battle Emory & Henry College, King University and Greensboro College.
To open the month of January, Averett compete at the Jim Crytzer Invitational hosted by Washington and Lee University before traveling to Louisville to compete in the NWCA Division III National Duals & NUWAY Open on Jan. 6-7. The Cougars will follow that up with the Virginia Duals on Jan. 14-15 before four consecutive duals. Among those is Averett's Senior Night, which is planned for Jan. 21 against Ferrum College. The Cougars also will face McDaniel College and Waynesburg University in a tri hosted by McDaniel on Jan. 30.
To begin February, Averett will host the Southeast Wrestling Conference Championship on Feb. 5 before concluding its year at home against Roanoke College on Feb. 12 at 7 p.m.
Postseason play for the NCAA Regionals is set for Feb. 25-26 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. NCAA Division III National Championships are set to begin March 11 at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
