Bryce Jackson was selected as Offensive Player of the Week, junior kicker
Will Caviness earned his second consecutive Special Teams Player of the Week honor and freshman
Nick Haitz was picked as Defensive Rookie of the Week for the Cougars.
Jackson, a native of Durham, North Carolina, broke the program's single-game record for passing yards with 397 in a 30-27 overtime victory over Christopher Newport University last weekend. Jackson was 31-of-52 through the air with three touchdowns, while also rushing the ball three times for 10 years and catching one pass for 8 yards.
Caviness, from Greensboro, North Carolina, had another stellar week by going 3-for-3 on field goal attempts, including the eventual game-winning 37-yard boot in overtime. He also set a new career-long make when he hit on a 46-yarder as time expired on the first half. He also hit from 26 yards out in the fourth quarter.
Haitz, a safety from Reston, Virginia, recorded a tackle in the win for Averett (1-1).
