2020-21 RECORD: 1-3 (1-2 USA South)
2021 OUTLOOK: Averett football will look to return to normalcy in fall 2021 after the shortened spring season of 2021 brought many challenges as the Cougars saw multiple games altered or canceled when opposing teams became unavailable to play. Although they faced numerous obstacles, the spring allowed Averett to gain additional experience at several key positions, which will benefit them this fall. The Cougars return a plethora of talent with a large senior class providing a veteran presence in the locker room, and they will look to build depth with several talented newcomers in the mix.
THEY SAID IT: "I am exited for our seniors and this team, which is Team 22 in our program's history," head coach Patrick Henry said. "I am super proud of our kids and the way they handled themselves in the fall and spring on 2020-21. There was nothing that was 'normal' or like it had been in the past. They have done everything they have been asked to do. They are the epitome of agile and flexible. They handle protocol changes, mandate changes, practice format changes due to weather and other things out of our control. They have made a lot of investments now it is time for us to cash in."
