LEXINGTON, Va. — No. 15 Averett University men's wrestling dominated Washington and Lee University 32-10 on Wednesday night in the Richard L. Duchossois Athletic and Recreation Center.
Averett won eight of the 10 matches for its second dual win over Washington and Lee in the history of the matchup and its first win over the Generals since the 2018-19 season. The Cougars now move to 19-6 on the year in dual matches.
Averett opened the dual with with a loss at 125 but rattled off three wins in a row to follow that. Freshman
Mason Barrett turned in a strong showing and kept his rookie campaign on track while also getting the Cougars back on track.
Senior
Brandon Woody then dominated with a win by major decision at 141. Woody, ranked 13th by NWCA, improved to 22-4 this season.
At 174, junior
George Moseley dominated Cameron Blizard earned one of two pins on the night for the Cougars while senior
Trent Ragland earned the other pin.
The Cougars are back in action when they battle Bluefield College Friday at 5:30 in Richmond, Va.
