LEXINGTON, Va. — Averett University women's golf had three Cougars place in the top at Southern Virginia University's Knights Invitational, which finished up Tuesday at Lexington Golf and Country Club. As a team, the Cougars placed seventh.
 
Freshman Anika Ouellette notched her first career top-10 finish when she tied for ninth at 22-over-par for the two-day tournament. Ouellette followed up her opening round 11-over 83 with another 11-over 83 during the final 18 holes on the par-72, 6,717-yard course.

Sophomore Lilli Caroline Tamburstuen tied for 16 th at 27-over after shooting 19-over on the final day. Freshman Sophia Marshall recorded her first top-20 collegiate performance by finishing 31-over for the tournament.
 
The Cougars shot a collective 169-over 745 over 36 holes. Host Southern Virginia won the tournament at 84-over, edging first-round leader Bridgewater College by seven strokes in a field that featured Division II and III schools.

Individually, Sweet Briar College's Amani Narang and Bridgewater's Sophia Martone finished tied at 10-under through 36 holes, and Narang won on a playoff.

Averett freshmen Hannah Walton and Hannah Gammon also competed for the Cougars. Walton shot 89-over and Gammons shot 97-over.

The Knights Invitational is Averett's final event of the fall golf schedule.
