WINCHESTER, Va. - Averett University wrestling blanked the University of Scranton 48-0 in non-conference dual on Saturday evening.

Averett's two Nationally ranked wrestlers had exceptional performances, both winning by fall in the dual. At 141 pounds, sophomore Hunter Campbell pinned Shkeb Nadir in under two minutes. Senior Hai Siu pinned Christopher Ball at the 3:30 mark in the 149-pound weight class.

At 125 pounds, sophomore Mason Barrett had a dominating performance, defeating Alex Boyd by technical fall 16-0.

Junior Kyle Sanders won by technical fall against Alex Boyd in the 133-pound weight class 20-2.

Sophomore Jesse Alvarado had an impressive showing, defeating Daniel Kosinski 20-2 by technical fall.

In the 165-pound weight class, sophomore Anthony Taylor won by technical fall over Jake Rudy 19-3.

Cougar Open champion, freshman Nate Mallery defeated Jeremiah Oaks by a 4-2 decision. In an exhibition against Shenandoah University, Mallery defeated George Vrachnos by a 10-2 major decision.

After missing his last two matches, sophomore Khalil Mitchell made his impact against Scranton, dominating Jonathan Sklavounos by technical fall 18-2 in the 184-pound weight class.

In the 197-pound weight class, junior Jaleel Jones earned himself a major decision win 9-1.

Heavyweight junior Jamar Christian manhandled Hunter Marhan for a 13-1 major decision win.

During an exhibition match against Shenandoah, Sophomore Daniel Porter defeated Tyler McDonald by technical fall 16-1.

The Cougars are back in action when they travel to compete at the York College New Standard Invitational on Dec. 2, at 3:30 p.m.
