Volleyball has three earn Academic All-District honors

DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University women's volleyball had three players garner 2022 Academic All-District honors as selected by the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday.

Juniors Sarah Marlowe and Emma Nash, along with sophomore Kinsley Stevens, each earned a spot on the Academic All-District Team for being key players for the Cougars while also earning at least a cumulative 3.5 grade point average.

Marlowe, an outside hitter from Danville, is scheduled to graduate in three years after a breakout 2022 season in which she averaged 2.96 kills per set with a team-high 337 kills this season for Averett, the runner-up in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament. Marlowe also had 53 digs and 56 total blocks in 114 sets over 31 matches played, ahd she was named to the All-ODAC First Team and received ODAC Player of the Week recognition once this season. With a grade point average of 3.87, Marlowe is majoring in business administration (marketing).

Nash, an outside hitter from Monroe, North Carolina, averaged 2.39 kills and 2.14 digs per set with 22 service aces and 57 total blocks in 116 sets over 31 matches. Nash earned All-ODAC Tournament Team honors this season. She has a 3.59 GPA while majoring in art.

Stevens, a setter from Danville, averaged 5.27 assists per set with 580 total assists and 35 service aces. She also had 2.19 digs per set with 241 total digs for the Cougars in 110 sets over 30 matches. Stevens has a 3.56 GPA while majoring in sports medicine.

All three players are eligible for Academic All-America consideration.
