GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Averett University women's basketball team fell on the road 86-78 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Wednesday.
Averett (2-5, 0-3 ODAC) saw five players score in double digits with two having career-high performances to cut Guilford's (5-1, 2-1 ODAC) 22 point lead in the third to bring the Cougars to just eight.
Freshman
Rayanna Evans scored a career-high 17 points in the outing, Evans also had four assists. Junior
Natija Pate tied her career-high in points with 16 points while bringing down a team-high nine rebounds. Freshman
Taylor Ray also had herself a career night as she scored a career high 12 points. Juniors
Talia Prosper and
Kalie Fleming both also had 12 points.
As a team, Averett had shot a season-high 47.4 percent from field goal range, including sinking six three's on 14 attempts for a season-high 42.9 percent from behinf the three-point line. The Cougars also shot a season-high 85.7 percent from the free throw line, making 18 free throws.
Averett is back in action this Saturday when it hosts Bridgewater College on Saturday in the Grant Center at 2 p.m.
