• The Event: The Cougars will wrestle eight different teams in the Duals. Averett will have its A Team facing three schools: Emory & Henry College, Fairmont State University, Patrick & Henry Community College, and St. Andrews University. Its B Team is slated to face off against: James Madison University's club team, Allen University, Apprentice School and Southwest Virginia Community College.
• Averett at a Glance : The Cougars, ranked No. 23 in the nation in the tournament team rankings, enter their third dual competition with a 1-1 record. In their last dual against the University of Scranton, the Cougars dominated the competition with a final score of 48-0. This past weekend, Averett placed third in the York College New Standard Invitational, producing two champions. Senior Hai Siu pinned two opponents and ultimately placed first in the 149-pound weight class. At 157 pounds, sophomore Jesse Alvarado had a pin and earned himself a first-place spot after defeating his opponent in the final match of the tournament by a 15-4 major decision. Averett sophomore Mason Barrett was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's Wrestler of the Week after beating two ranked opponents, including the then-No. 1 wrestler in the country at 125 pounds.
