MISENHEIMER, N.C. — The Averett University women's basketball program fell short 48-38 against Pfeiffer University on Thursday night inside Merner Gym.
Averett (4-15, 4-8 USA South) was led by freshman
Jaa Brown, who led the team with nine points and added four rebounds. Both teams struggled shooting from the field as the Cougars shot 24.6 percent and Pfeiffer (10-13, 6-9 USA South) shot 22.6 percent.
Averett jumped out to a 16-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and was able to extend that lead at half 26-17.
The Falcons came out in the second half and were able to crawl all the way back to take a one-point lead before the final quarter of play thanks to a 14-4 third quarter. Pfeiffer was able to close out Averett in the fourth.
Averett is back in action when it travels to Salem College Saturday at 2 p.m.
