RALEIGH, N.C. — Averett University women's lacrosse saw its season come to an end Friday afternoon after falling to Southern Virginia University 15-6 in the USA South semifinals.
The No. 3 seed from the East Division AverettÂ
(12-5), faced a two goal deficit before junior
Kelsey Steckroth found the back of the net for the Cougars. Southern Virginia (11-6), who was the East Division No. 2 seed ended in the first quarter leading 7-1.
The Cougars were held scoreless in the second but erupted for four goals in the third quarter and headed to the final quarter of action trailing 12-5.Â
Junior
Raven Felder led the charge with three goals whileÂ
freshman Faith Bowlin added one goal and one assist. Junior Morgan Dearing also scored for the Cougars.
Bowlin was named to the USA South All-Tournament team and Averett ended the season with a 8-2 record in their final year in the USA South before heading to the ODAC next season.
