WINCHESTER, Va. — Averett University wrestling dominates Shenandoah University 46-9 on Wednesday afternoon for their first win in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
The Cougars had total control over their opponent, recording five pins and two technical falls in the dual.
At 125 pounds, sophomore
Daniel Parkulo did not allow the match to be close, he rag dolled Tyler McDonald by a 22-7 technical fall.
Senior
Hai Siu extended his pin total, after pinning Cameron Hatchett at 1:08 in the 149-pound weight class. Siu currently leads the Cougars with nine falls.
In the 157-pound weight class,
Xavier Swanson won by fall against Xavier Locke within the first two minutes of the match.
At 165 pounds, sophomore
Anthony Taylor followed up with an 18-3 technical fall against Jalen Cornelius to extend the Cougar lead to 22-3.
Graduate student
Alex Turley adds another win under his belt after pinning Dylan Weaver at 174 pounds.
In the 197-pound weight class, redshirt senior
Billy Baldwin defeated Troy Gibson at 5:39.
Heavyweight junior
Jamar Christian pinned Elliot Rivera within the first two minutes of the match.
The Cougars are back in action on Jan. 13 at 2:30 p.m. when they travel to Hampton, Virginia to compete in the Virginia Duals.
