LOUISVILLE Ky.- Averett University wrestling completed the National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals, going 1-3 on Saturday evening.

Sophomore Jesse Alvarado swept the competition. He defeated Brody Hawtrey by fall at 3:20. He followed up in the next dual against Olivet's Gerald, winning by a 10-2 major decision to improve his undefeated record to 16-0 at 157 pounds.

Graduate student Alex Turley dominated Thomas McCreadie with a 20-4 technical fall in the 174-pound weight class.

At 184 pounds, sophomore Khalil Mitchell had a commanding performance as well, defeating Kurtis Modlin by a 17-7 major decision.

Sophomore Mason Barrett set the tone early, defeating Emmett Kettel by a 10-1 major decision in the 125-pound weight class.

At 165 pounds, sophomore Anthony Taylor had total control of the match, defeating Jonathan Davis by a 17-7 major decision.

Sophomore Khalil Mitchell manhandled his opponent in an 18-6 major decision over Justin Carnahan in the 184-pound weight class.

The Cougars return to action when they travel to Winchester, Virginia to face Shenandoah University on Jan. 11, at 2 p.m.
