HARRISONBURG, Va.—  Averett University men's wrestling finished the James Madison University Club Invitational with seven individual placers on Sunday night.

Senior Alex Logsdon finished second in the tournament at 125 pounds, winning his first match by pin fall against Maximillian Connell. In the quarterfinals, he defeated Nathan Gipson by a 19-3 technical fall. He fell to Dylan Cowerd by a 5-4 decision in the first-place match to secure second place in the tournament.

Freshman Jesse Lemon placed fourth in the contest, winning a wrestle back into the placement matches following a sudden victory win against Matthew Lombardo. He lost to Trey Kratko in a decision in the third-place match in the 133-pound weight class.

Sophomore Austin Long won his first match against Matthew Lombardo by sudden Victory. In the semis, he lost to Logan Arnold by pin fall. Long forfeited his final match to finish fifth in the tournament.

In the 141-pound weight class, sophomore Jackson Higgins placed third in the competition. He made it all the way to the third-place match, defeating Eric Guy by a 7-0 decision. 

Sophomore Alex Driggs placed second in the competition, earning a major decision win in his first match. Throughout the day, he compiled a pin, two major decisions and one decision win. Driggs fell to Nathan Monteparte in the first-place match. 

At 197 pounds, junior Jaleel Jones finished third in the tournament. In the first round, Jones lost to Drayk Bunn by decision, but turned around and pinned Aiden Miller in his first wrestle back. Jones came up big once again, pinning his second opponent to make it to the third-place match where he defeated Owen Schuller by a 4-2 decision.

Sophomore Braeden Fluke pinned John Bush in 26 seconds in his first match of the tournament. Fluke lost in the semis, but he managed to place fourth after losing in the third-place match to Jacob Keating at 285 pounds.

The Cougars are back in action on Saturday when they host Division I Queens University of Charlotte at 5 p.m.
