ASHLAND, Va. - Averett University women's volleyball fell in four sets to No. 2 seeded Randolph-Macon College on Thursday night despite taking the opening set.
Averett (14-17, 7-5 ODAC) trailed Randolph-Macon (19-9, 10-2 ODAC) 21-20 in the opening set, after having fought back from being down as much as six points when freshman
Sydney Mounce hammered a kill through the Yellow Jackets defense to tie the set up at 21-21. A Randolph-Macon attack error gave the Cougars its first lead of the night. Senior

Rachel Green stuffed a Randolph-Macon attack to bring the set score to 23-21. Nash and fellow senior
Destiny McIntosh blocked a Yellow Jacket attack making back to back blocks for the Cougars. Averett took the first set 25-21 from a Grace Parker attack error.
Randolph-Macon came back buzzing, taking the following sets 25-15, 25-16 and 25-16 to advance to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship on Saturday.
Senior
Erin Gray tallied 19 digs in the outing bringing her to 578 digs for the season. McIntosh and Nash lead the Cougars' offense with nine and eight kills, respectably while sophomore
Dayton Moore handed out 17 assists. Nash had a team-high four blocks while McIntosh and freshman
Allie Wilkerson had two each.
As a team, Averett had 34 kills, 31 assists, 55 digs, six blocks and four aces.
