HARRISONBURG, Va. - Averett University men's volleyball opened up its inaugural season on the road with losses to Mount St. Joseph University and Eastern Mennonite on Saturday 3-0.
Averett (0-2) opened up against Mount St. Joseph (1-1), the Lions opened the match on a 6-0 run. Mount St. Joseph took the opening set 25-8 before going on to win in straight sets, winning 25-10, 25-9.
Freshman
Finn Oakley had a team-high three kills, freshman
Noah Kaneshiro-Pate had three assists and six digs.
In the second match of the day, Averett fell 3-0 to EMU (2-0). The Royals took the opening set 25-8 and the second set 25-13.
Averett mounted a comeback in the third set, leading 12-11 before the Royals went on to win 25-19.
Sophomore
Jordan Tyler had a team-high five, freshman
Dominick Jenkins had two aces and senior
Daniel Cancro had a team-high seven digs.
Averett is back in action on Tuesday at Southern Virginia at 7 p.m.
