DANVILLE, Va.
— Averett University women's volleyball hosted the University of Lynchburg for a Senior Day matchup on Saturday, where the Cougars fell 3-0 in three sets.
Averett (11-14, 5-5 ODAC) struggled to find its rhythm against Lynchburg (15-11, 7-4 ODAC) as the Hornets took the first set 25-18 and the following set 25-16. Averett was able to grab a lead in the third set before falling 25-17.
Prior to the match with Lynchburg, Averett honored its senior class of
Julianna Erickson,
Kayleigh Gentry, and
Carlie Deason.
Erickson and sophomore
Sydney Mounce had a team-high seven kills. Fifth-year libero
Erin Gray thrived on the defensive side with 13 digs, while fellow junior
Dayton Moore had 12 digs with 11 assists.
Averett is back home on Wednesday when it faces the WildCats of Randolph College at 7 p.m.
