Oberhelman steps down as softball head coach

DANVILLE, Va. — Carol Oberhelman resigned as Averett University softball head coach on Wednesday to pursue another opportunity outside of coaching.

Averett will begin an immediate search for its next head coach.

Oberhelman, who was hired in May 2022, compiled a 25-55 overall record in two seasons with the Cougars and produced two all-conference selections.

Averett opens the 2025 season at home against Salem College on Feb. 16.
