LYNCHBURG, Va. — Averett University men's basketball fell short 77-58 at University of Lynchburg to end the season Saturday.
Averett (4-21, 2-14 ODAC) led 58-57 with 7:25 left in the game before Lynchburg (11-14, 6-10 ODAC) went on 20-0 run to end the game and steal the win.

The two teams battled in a tight contest before the Hornets inched ahead late in the first half. However, the Cougars narrowed the gap to 34-32 at the break. Averett stayed close at the start of the second period before making its move. Senior
Jem Lowrance hit a 3-pointer to put Averett in front 46-45 with 14:46 left. The two teams traded leads over the next eight minutes before Lynchburg's run helped the Hornets pull away.

Jason Sellars II had a double-double pf 12 points and 13 rebounds and freshman
Jamison Graves scored 10 points. Senior
Jordan Lewis chipped in nine points, seven rebounds and five assists as well for the Cougars.
