VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Averett University men's volleyball came up short against Virginia Wesleyan University and North Park University in Friday's tri-match.
Averett (0-15) first took on Virginia Wesleyan (7-13) and dropped the match against the Marlins in straight-sets for the second time this season. While it failed to take a set, Averett's squad did not roll over for Virginia Wesleyan. The scores ultimately fell in favor of the Marlins: 25-13, 25-17, and 25-17. Sophomore Jordan Tyler led the Cougars with six kills, while freshman Noah Kaneshiro-Pate set his team up with 10 assists, and sophomore Anibal Lopez tallied six digs.
The second match of the day pit the Cougars against the Vikings. North Park (5-15) beat Averett in three sets: 25-14, 25-15, and 25-12. Tyler and freshman Finn Oakley each recorded a team-high five kills, Kaneshiro-Pate once again led with eight assists, and Lopez recorded five digs in the match.
Averett is back in action for its final home event of the season as the Cougars welcome the Wasps of Randolph-Macon College into the E. Stuart James Grant Center on Wednesday, March 20 at 6 p.m.
