SALEM, Va. — Averett University men's volleyball lost 3-0 to Roanoke College on Tuesday night in the Cougars' season finale. The Maroons won 25-13 and 25-18 over the first two sets, then held off the Cougars 26-24 in the third set.
The match concluded Averett's inaugural season of men's volleyball.
The Cougars fought to the very end, forcing extra points before Roanoke (14-12) held on in the third set. Averett (0-17) was down 24-20 before getting kills from freshman
Daniel Feliz and
Noah Kaneshiro-Pate. Freshman
Finn Oakley followed with a service ace, and Feliz's kill knotted the match at 24-24. But a service error and Roanoke kill gave the Maroons the next two points to allow them to prevail.
Sophomore
Jordan Tyler had four kills, sophomore
Anibal Lopez had seven digs and Feliz finished with three hills and three block assists.
