DANVILLE, Va. – Averett University men's volleyball dropped both contests in Saturday's tri-match, falling to Wabash College 3-0 before losing a five-set thriller to Warren Wilson College, 3-2.

In the first match of the day for Averett (0-12), freshman
Finn Oakley led the way with eight kills for the Cougars, aided by a team-high nine assists from sophomore
Diego Giffuni, while sophomore
Anibal Lopez contributed seven digs. Freshman
Dominick Jenkins had a career- and program-high of five blocks. Averett fell to Wabash (14-6) by scores of 25-13, 25-9 and 25-15.

The second contest of the day served as the Cougars' Senior Day celebration, as Averett took on Warren Wilson (6-8). In their inaugural season, the Cougars honored a trio of seniors, including
Philipp Bohnenkamp,
Aidan Barber and
Daniel Cancro. In the match, Cancro paced the Cougars' scoring with 14 kills, while Giffuni had a career-high 20 assists while freshman
Noah Kaneshiro-Pate had 17 assists. Jenkins chipped in four blocks and Lopez dove his way to a career-high 26 digs while Barber had 16. Averett dropped the matchup with the Owls in five sets, 19-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-23 and 4-15.
The Cougars return to the court to take on Roanoke College in the friendly confines of the Grant Center on Wednesday, March 13 at 6 p.m.
