GREENSBORO, N.C. — No. 50 Averett University women's tennis remained undefeated by sweepting Guilford College 9-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action Sunday afternoon.
Averett (12-4, 8-0 ODAC) got an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles from junior
Keira Gunning and sophomore
Elisa Battermann, an 8-1 victory at No. 2 from freshman
Jennika Jaison and sophomore
Harshri Asher and an 8-2 win at No. 3 by sophomores
Brenda Poulakidas and
Franka Keil.
In singles play, the Cougars cruised past Guilford (7-9, 3-6 ODAC). Freshman
Siddhi Khandelwal won at No. 1, 6-2, 6-1. Freshman
Dilara Sultanova also won 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2. Freshman
Annika Kellerer outlasted Kancie Tate at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 0-6, 6-0. Freshmen
Amelie Schroeder,
Siddhi Khot and
Ana Herrera also won in straight sets in the final three singles matchups.
Averett hosts Sweet Briar College in a key ODAC matchup on Saturday.
