DANVILLE, Va. – Averett University men's lacrosse closed out its 2024 season with a loss to Shenandoah University, 19-1.
The Cougars celebrated the program's seniors before the game kicked off.
Connor Taff,
Calvin Beavers,
Andrew Guynn, and
Cody Morphis were each recognized for their contributions to Averett lacrosse on the field in front of the Cougars' fans.
As festivities stopped, Shenandoah (10-7, 6-3 ODAC) jumped out to a commanding lead over Averett (2-15, 1-8 ODAC), leading 11-0 before the Cougars scored their lone goal of the contest. Sophomore
Emmett Wood, on an assist from junior
Dawson Hobbs, fired a shot into the back of the net with 5:22 left to play in the first half. The goal for Wood was his 28th of the season, which ties him with teammate
Connor Taff and Liam Taylor for the all time single season goal scoring record. Guynn and sophomore
Cameron Prutzman combined to stop 20 shots in the game.
Averett wraps up the season and bids farewell to its seniors as the returning Cougars' squad heads into the off-season.
