No. 19/20 men's golf places fifth at ODAC Championships; Two Cougars finish in top 12

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — No. 19/20 Averett University men's golf placed fifth as a team and had two golfers finish in the top 12 at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships, which concluded Tuesday at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club.

The Cougars shot a collective 48-over-par 912 over 54 holes on the par-72, 6,981-yard Green Course over three days. No. 6/7 University of Lynchburg claimed the title, running away with the top spot to win by 15 strokes at 17-over.

Freshman Johnny Stewart finished 10th to lead Averett. Stewart shot 4-over on the final day to finish at 9-over for his first ODAC Championships. Junior Killian O'Reilly, who jumped up 16 spots on Day 2, continued to rise and finished tied for 12th during the final round at 11-over.

Guilford College's James Alden, who held a share of the lead in each of the first two rounds, won the tournament by two strokes after finishing at 1-over.

Sophomore Miguel Rodriguez Lamana tied for 26th at 16-over, freshman John Keba tied for 30th at 18-over and graduate student Caleb Kimbrough tied for 35th at 22-over after shooting a 3-over during the final round.

No. 20/21 Hampden-Sydney College placed second at 32-over as a team, while No. 7/8 Washington and Lee University was third at 35-over. No. 17 Guilford finished at 43-over, five strokes ahead of Averett.
