JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Junior
Killian O'Reilly hit his putt for par on the first playoff hole to earn medalist honors as No. 19/20 Averett University men's golf finished play Sunday at the 51st Camp Lejeune Collegiate.
The win was O'Reilly's second career victory.
O'Reilly shot a 1-under 71 during the final round, leaving him at 3-under for the three-day tournament. Oglethorpe University's Michael O'Sullivan shot a 3-under 69 over the final 18 holes to jump into a top atop the leaderboard with O'Reilly, sending them to a playoff, where O'Reilly won on the first hole.
As a team, Averett placed fourth in the 54-hole tournament after shooting a 23-over 887 on the par-72, 6,851-yard Gold Course at Paradise Point Golf Course. Oglethorpe won by 14 strokes, finishing at 3-under — the only team to finish under par for the tournament.
O'Reilly shot a 1-over 73 on Friday, then followed it with a 3-under 69 on Saturday to put him in second place entering the final round Sunday. He had three birdies and two bogeys during the final round to help him secure the second win of his career. His other win also came on a two-hole playoff at the Virginia Wesleyan Marlin Invitational as a freshman during the 2021-22 season.

Johnny Stewart had his best round of the tournament on Sunday, shooting a 2-under 70 to help him surge up 21 spots to a tie for 20th place at 7-over. Freshman
John Keba finished 25th at 8-over, graduate student
Caleb Kimbrough tied for 35th at 11-over and junior
Hunter Crute finished at 18-over for the Cougars.
O'Reilly is the second Cougar to earn medalist honors at a tournament in 2023-24.
