DANVILLE, Va. — In almost the same amount of time it took for the solar eclipse to pass through the region, No. 47 Averett University women's tennis rolled past University of Lynchburg 9-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action on Monday afternoon at the Averett Tennis Courts.
Averett (10-4, 6-0 ODAC), ranked No. 10 in the region, dominated Lynchburg (2-10, 1-6 ODAC) from the start in doubles play. Averett got an 8-1 win at No. 1 from junior
Keira Gunning and sophomore
Elisa Battermann, an 8-1 win at No. 2 from sophomore
Harshri Asher and freshman
Jennika Jaison, and an 8-1 win at No. 3 from sophomore
Franka Keil and freshman
Siddhi Khot.
Averett also cruised in singles play, with all six matches being won in straight sets. Freshmen
Siddhi Khandelwal and
Dilara Sultanova earned wins at the top two spots, respectively, while sophomore
Brenda Poulakidas and freshmen
Amelie Schroeder,
Annika Kellerer and
Ana Herrera also earned wins in singles.
Averett hosts Bridgewater College on Thursday at 3 p.m.
