Averett at a Glance: Seventh-seeded Averett softball nearly upset No. 2 seed Randolph-Macon College, but the Yellow Jackets twice came from behind and won 3-2 on a walk-off sacrifice fly in the ninth inning to open pod play in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday. The loss sent the Cougars into the elimination game against Guilford.
Guilford at a Glance: The Quakers lost their opening game of pod play to No. 3 seed Roanoke College on Friday in the 2:30 p.m. game hosted in Ashland. Guilford was no-hit by the Maroons in a 10-0 loss in five innings.
