BUENA VISTA, Va. — Averett University men's volleyball dropped matches against No. 1 Southern Virginia University and Roanoke College on the road on Tuesday.
Southern Virginia (4-0, 0-0 CVC) won 25-2, 25-13 and 25-14 against Averett (1-3, 0-0 ODAC).
Freshman
Yerai Collazo, sophomore
Finn Oakley, and junior
Kendrick Sasu-Twumasi each tied with 3 kills a piece, while junior
Anibal Lopez led the Cougars' defense with five digs each. Sophomore
Shaun Freeman had nine assists for the Cougars.
In the Cougars' second match of the day against Roanoke (4-2, 0-0 ODAC) Oakley had 14 kills. Freeman had 14 assists while freshman
Joel Hetherington handed out four assists. Lopez tallied 10 more digs before falling in five sets 25-22, 25-22, 25-11 and 25-15.
Averett is back home Thursday when they face Randolph-Macon College at 6 and 8 p.m. to begin conference play.
