Lynchburg, Va. — Averett University women's volleyball faced the University of Lynchburg Wednesday for a conference match where Averett fell 3-0 in straight sets.
The Hornets (18-2, 6-1 ODAC), who are currently receiving votes in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll, defeated the Cougars (4-14, 1-7 ODAC) with scores of 25-15, 25-6 and 25-18.
Junior Sydney Mounce led Averett with five kills. Senior Rachel Green and junior Tahani Villines had three a piece. Senior setter Dayton Moore recorded seven assists.
Sophomore libero Kyleigh Rains had 11 digs for the Cougars' defense.
Averett is back on the road Friday when they travel to Winchester, Virginia for a conference match against Shenandoah University at 7 p.m.
