MANHEIM, Pa. — Averett University men's wrestling had six regionally ranked wrestlers and one nationally ranked in the National Wreslting Coaches Association (NWCA) preseason poll for tournament rankings, the organization announced Monday. 

Ferrum College transfer Adrian Samano, a junior at 125 pounds, was ranked third in Region 4. Junior A.J. Orlando III, who was ranked No. 5 regionally last spring, has claimed the No. 3 spot regionally at 133 pounds. Xavier Swanson, a senior at 133 pounds, has also claimed a No. 3 spot in Region 4. Senior Nolan Gerwitz ranked No. 6 in the region at 184 pounds and senior Jacob Jimenez earned a No. 4 spot regionally at 197 pounds. 

Senior Khalil Mitchell earned spots in both Region 4 and in the nation for the second season in a row, ranking second in the region and No. 10 nationally in the 174-pound weight class.

Averett opens the season on November 2 at the Lycoming College Invitational.
