Lexington, Va. — Averett University women's volleyball fell to nationally ranked Washington and Lee University and Christopher Newport University in straight sets on Saturday.
In match one against No. 15 Washington and Lee (15-2, 4-2 ODAC), Averett (2-13, 0-6 ODAC) fell 25-10, 25-14 and 25-8. Junior Sydney Mounce had five kills, while juniors Tahani Villines and Allie Wilkerson had four a piece. Senior Dayton Moore tallied 10 assists.
On the defense, sophomore Kyleigh Rains, junior Kadence Woodlief, and Moore had 16, 12 and 10 digs respectively.
In match two against Christopher Newport (11-6, 0-0 CAC), Averett fell 25-10, 25-14 and 25-15. Mounce and Wilkerson collected four kills each while Moore added seven more assists to her day. Rains added 12 more digs for the defense.
The Cougars are back home on Tuesday when they host Hollins University for a conference match at 6:30 p.m.
