Greensboro, N.C. — Averett University women's volleyball traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina for two non-conference matches against Meredith College and Greensboro College, where they fell in straight sets during both matches.
In the first match, Meredith (16-11, 9-7 USA South) was victorious over Averett (5-17, 2-9 ODAC), winning the match with scores of 25-19, 25-23 and 25-21.
Junior Tahani Villines recorded nine kills for the Cougars' offense. Sophomore Megan Litman had 10 assists for the defense while junior Kadence Woodlief added nine digs.
To finish the day, Averett faced Greensboro (24-2, 16-0 USA South), where the Cougars fell by scores of 25-12, 25-22 and 25-16.
Freshman Laney Beaver added 10 assists, while sophomore Kyleigh Rains had 12 digs.
Junior Sydney Mounce led the Cougars in both matches with 20 total kills. Senior Dayton Moore also was a stand out in both matches, recording 16 assists during the first match and 18 in the second.
The Cougars are back on the road Tuesday when they travel to Swannanoa, North Carolina for a non-conference match against Warren Wilson College at 6 p.m.
