FOREST, Va. — Averett University was slotted to finish 13th in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's 2025-26 preseason poll, released on Tuesday.
The Cougars, picked 13th the previous year, finished with a 4-21 record, and 2-14 in conference games. Averett enters 2025-26 with a new face on the bench, as previous assistant
Tim Krotish takes over as head coach. Six players from last season return, including star guard
DaiShaundria Giggetts.
Conference championship finalists and preseason No. 6 Washington and Lee University snatches the top spot, taking 10 of 12 first-place votes. The ODAC winners from last season, and preseason No. 21 Randolph-Macon College, slot directly under at second place with the remaining two first-place votes. Bridgewater College, receiving votes in the preseason poll, finishes out the top three, while Roanoke College and Shenandoah University take fourth and fifth, respectively.
Averett opens its season in the Grant Center, and first under Krotish, on Nov. 11 when the Cougars take on former USA South opponent, the Pride of Greensboro College.
