SALEM, Va. – Averett University track and field competed in the second day of action at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Sunday.
The women's team carried the torch for the Cougars' track and field program in Day 2 action. Sophomores
Hailey Juhasz and
Gabrielle Griffin each competed in two events during the day. Juhasz ran in the 200 and 400 meter events. The sophomore placed 19th and 15th respectively, with times of 27.88 seconds and 1:05.01. Griffin, Averett's distance ace, competed in the mile and 3000m run. Griffin placed 21st and 15th respectively, posting times of 5:48.62 and 11:39.14. Junior
Chris Nelson represented the men's team in the triple jump. Nelson scored a 16th-place finish thanks to an 11.83m jump.
The NCAA South Region Indoor Final Qualifier is next up on the Cougars' schedule. Averett is set to compete in the one day event on Friday, March 7.
